Janet Haslett

Janet Haslett came to Graniti Murales wanting to work with the local children. She painted a public building in a playground with Sicilian wheels of all colours and sizes. The children adored her and qued up hours in advance to paint with her. The buiscits for the inauguration were all decorated with edible paper depicting the wheels the children had created. And they all boasted about their works of art before engulfing them….

Janet Haslett is an artist whose practice revolves around the concept of time and its impact on our perceptions. Through her observational and research-based projects exploring landscapes, culture, and history, she delves into the interplay between the present and the past, the real and the imagined, as she reinterprets historical narratives to reorient them in the contemporary context.

Utilizing a diverse range of materials, from traditional mediums to recycled remnants from her studio, Janet creates paintings, drawings, and sculptures. Her artworks often transform, with paintings evolving into sculptures and sculptures emerging from the discovery of the extraordinary within mundane, overlooked everyday objects.
