I want to start by saying thank you. I’m sorry I couldn’t be here to say this in person. I am so grateful for the kindness and the ciao ciao ciaooooos I was able to experience in Graniti. This is such a beautiful community and your kindness is uplifting. I am especially grateful to Richard and Salvatore for helping me bring Starbucks coffee drinks to Graniti.

This piece, titled, “The Tender Gardener”, captures a woman in her garden with some herbs in a basket at her feet. Much of the background elements, like the pots and statues, were based on photos I took here in Graniti.

For me, this piece is about cultivation. In the literal sense, it’s about working to cultivate a softer space, tending to your own garden. An appreciation for those who delicately take their time to pursue slow riches. In the metaphorical sense, I draw inspiration from my own life – as I learn to bring down the walls I’ve built up and cultivate a softer sense of self and life around me. Spending time in Graniti is a beautiful affirmation and a great reminder that kindness and gentleness cost us nothing. We all have a tender side we’re working to bring out, and grow.”
