Lucia D’Agostino, a lifelong resident of Graniti and mother of two, has always loved colour, creativity, and craftsmanship. After studying at the Istituto Statale d’Arte di Giarre, she worked in an artisan workshop in Taormina, mastering techniques in restoration, decoration, and upholstery. Now employed at the Casa Comunale of Graniti, she devotes her free time to painting. Her mural Una finestra sul passato (“A Window to the Past”) was inspired by an old photograph of a 1960s washhouse in Piazza Roma, which stirred memories of her mother and sister’s stories about the hard yet joyful communal life of that era. Through her work, Lucia seeks to reconnect past and present, honouring the sense of togetherness that once defined her community while prompting reflection on how we use the time modern life has given us.
