Tannis Hopkins

Tucked in a quiet, shaded corner near a church, Tannis’s mural transformed a former fish tank and food shop into a vibrant tribute to Sicilian cuisine. Inspired by visits to Palermo and Catania’s lively markets, she depicted a traditional Sicilian cart bursting with local produce, cheeses, breads, sweets, seafood, and animals. The building’s owners expressed heartfelt gratitude, moved by how her work revitalised the forgotten space. Tannis, a Montreal-born figurative painter trained in Fine and Applied Arts, works in oil, acrylic, and gouache, exploring evocative narratives rooted in life and connection. Based at 1000 Parker Street, she actively exhibits, participates in arts events, and has completed residencies in Sicily and Mexico. Her aim is to forge emotional connections, celebrating life, curiosity, and shared human experience.
