Deborah Bakos

Deborah Bakos, a multimedia artist from Vancouver, created an abstract mural in Graniti as a love letter to the town, inspired by Italian artist Alighiero Boetti and featuring the phrase “GRANITI PER SEMPRE T’AMO BEDDA.” Her design uniquely wraps around a corner and incorporates the nearby stairs. Working across painting, photography, textiles, and found objects, Deborah explores themes of human vulnerability and life’s paradoxes — the tension between hope and despair, justice and injustice, the familiar and the unknown. Holding a Certificate of Fine Arts in Painting from Emily Carr University and a Bachelor of Education in English, Fine Arts, and Media Literacy from Simon Fraser University, she has exhibited widely, with her works held in collections and publications throughout Canada, the United States, Turkey, Mexico, and Italy.
