Maria Cristina Paffumi, a Sicilian artist and graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania, created a delicate mural inspired by old photographs of Graniti, depicting local people carrying traditional brocche past the main church. She describes her work as an attempt to “stop time,” capturing a simple yet value-rich moment from decades past and symbolising a bridge between past, present, and future, reflected in the hourglass she painted. Alongside her teaching and theatre set design, Paffumi is skilled in ceramics and has exhibited widely across Messina and Catania, including her solo show Semblance of a Woman at Palazzo dei Duchi di Santo Stefano. Leaving her artistic mark through Graniti Murales represents both a personal and professional milestone.
