Titled Learn to Love Again, Rhys Douglas Farrell’s acrylic mural was created during his 2018 residency in Graniti, a small Sicilian town near Mount Etna. Inspired by his month-long stay, the work was gifted to the local community as a gesture of gratitude. Based in Calgary, Canada, Farrell is a contemporary artist known for his vibrant explorations of colour, form, and optical illusion. A graduate of the Alberta University of the Arts, he has exhibited widely, completed international residencies in Spain, Italy, and Malaysia, and earned recognition such as the 2019 Alumni Horizon Award for his contributions to the art world.
