Slava visited from Russia in December and, instead of creating one large mural, spent his residency painting a series of smaller works across the town. Some pieces were playful, while others interacted with existing architecture to form optical illusions. Slava Ptrk, a street artist from Yekaterinburg and a journalist by training, responds to social and political realities with concise, relevant, and accessible work that often involves community participation. Using irony as his key tool to reveal the absurdities of modern life, he works across varied media—from murals and installations to performances and social media—drawing on a broad artistic practice that has evolved from stencils to notable projects like “Here and Now,” “Good Harvest,” “White Series,” and “Tenderness.”
